August 9, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4386 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4808 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2250 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. MOLEX INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:MOLX), EARTHLINK INC (NASDAQ:ELNK), SOUTHERN COMPANY (THE) (NYSE:SO), TD AMERITRADE HOLDING CORP (NASDAQ:AMTD), HCA HOLDINGS INC (NYSE:HCA), ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE SERVICE (NYSE:AIQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MOLX $-0.030 -0.15% 2,027,935 59.82% 1,350,734 39.85% 677,201 Abnormal
     ELNK $-0.010 -0.14% 2,431,495 54.36% 1,941,274 43.40% 490,221 Abnormal
     SO $-0.020 -0.05% 5,762,110 27.14% 5,365,315 25.27% 396,795 Abnormal
     AMTD $-0.050 -0.33% 8,713,056 51.76% 7,982,371 47.42% 730,685 Abnormal
     HCA $-0.020 -0.12% 3,227,402 39.16% 2,326,348 28.23% 901,054 Abnormal
     AIQ $-1.510 -54.91% 1,042,006 42.86% 594,458 24.45% 447,548 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MOLX with 677,201 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.03000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
