July 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4205 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2496 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4849 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. IMAX CORP (NYSE:IMAX), ALANCO TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ALAN), ONCOTHYREON INC (NASDAQ:ONTY), SINO-GLOBAL SHIPPING AMERICA (NASDAQ:SINO), BRIDGEPOINT EDUCATION INC (NYSE:BPI), HOLLYSYS AUTOMATION TECHNOLO (NASDAQ:HOLI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     IMAX $-3.660 -12.80% 1,172,849 29.55% 1,296,466 32.67% -123,617 -338
     ALAN $-0.250 -13.09% 314,148 35.91% 560,688 64.09% -246,540 -9,862
     ONTY $-1.340 -13.83% 2,420,492 44.26% 2,983,156 54.55% -562,664 -4,199
     SINO $-1.780 -26.37% 455,844 46.14% 524,847 53.13% -69,003 -388
     BPI $-3.490 -11.44% 470,831 26.79% 489,468 27.85% -18,637 -53
     HOLI $-1.940 -18.37% 1,398,360 48.42% 1,443,222 49.97% -44,862 -231
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IMAX with a dollar loss Monday of $-3.66000 and a Friction Factor of -338 shares. That means that it only took 338 more shares of selling than buying to move IMAX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
