June 20, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4353 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3429 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3132 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), FREEPORT-MCMORAN COPPER (NYSE:FCX), BANCO SANTANDER SA-SPON ADR (NYSE:STD), AT&T INC (NYSE:T), RESEARCH IN MOTION (NASDAQ:RIMM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     BAC $-0.090 -0.84% 28,649,613 32.64% 23,254,465 26.50% 5,395,148 Abnormal
     GE $-0.010 -0.04% 12,104,157 31.19% 9,608,911 24.76% 2,495,246 Abnormal
     FCX $-0.520 -1.08% 7,514,465 40.92% 4,157,504 22.64% 3,356,961 Abnormal
     STD $-0.030 -0.29% 3,658,232 41.30% 2,036,255 22.99% 1,621,977 Abnormal
     T $-0.100 -0.32% 5,407,818 30.96% 4,065,481 23.28% 1,342,337 Abnormal
     RIMM $-1.930 -6.95% 28,966,926 52.71% 25,861,446 47.06% 3,105,480 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAC with 5,395,148 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.09000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
