June 20, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4353 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3429 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3132 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. TERADYNE INC (NYSE:TER), OPKO HEALTH INCORPORATION (AMEX:OPK), LORILLARD INC (NYSE:LO), OMV AG (OTC:OMVJF), GENON ENERGY INC (NYSE:GEN), (OTC:POTG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     TER $-0.240 -1.72% 1,211,663 24.52% 2,464,920 49.88% -1,253,257 -52,219
     OPK $-0.010 -0.30% 241,248 6.90% 5,483,453 156.79% -5,242,205 -5,242,205
     LO $-0.240 -0.22% 401,215 10.61% 2,402,155 63.54% -2,000,940 -83,373
     OMVJF $-0.840 -1.96% 3,880,000 23.69% 12,500,000 76.31% -8,620,000 -102,619
     GEN $-0.040 -1.06% 2,777,781 24.34% 3,835,780 33.62% -1,057,999 -264,500
     POTG $-0.017 -4.13% 3,110,822 37.15% 4,800,448 57.32% -1,689,626 -993,898
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TER down $-0.24000 with a Friction Factor of -52,219 and a Net Volume of -1,253,257. That means that it takes 52,219 more shares of selling than buying to drop TER by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
