April 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2695 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2845 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2197 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. PACER INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:PACR), VALASSIS COMMUNICATIONS INC (NYSE:VCI), CARBO CERAMICS INC (NYSE:CRR), FLAGSTAR BANCORP INC (NYSE:FBC), AVEO PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:AVEO), GULF RESOURCES INC (NASDAQ:GFRE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PACR $0.730 14.29% 1,880,677 50.11% 1,865,752 49.72% 14,925 204
     VCI $3.340 12.89% 1,594,462 33.76% 1,462,678 30.97% 131,784 395
     CRR $21.580 15.26% 610,606 28.99% 594,442 28.22% 16,164 7
     FBC $0.180 13.64% 2,652,764 39.90% 1,978,550 29.76% 674,214 37,456
     AVEO $2.080 15.13% 804,022 49.20% 782,782 47.90% 21,240 102
     GFRE $0.740 26.43% 3,678,014 50.54% 3,587,210 49.30% 90,804 1,227
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PACR with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.73000 and a Friction Factor of 204 shares. That means that it only took 204 more shares of buying than selling to move PACR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
