April 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2695 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2845 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2197 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. ISHARES RUSSELL 2000 (NYSE:IWM), SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST (NYSE:SPY), GOLD RESERVE INC (AMEX:GRZ), VITAL IMAGES INC (NASDAQ:VTAL), NV ENERGY INC (NYSE:NVE), LOOPNET INC (NASDAQ:LOOP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     IWM $0.380 0.44% 7,199,275 16.14% 9,001,099 20.18% -1,801,824 Abnormal
     SPY $0.240 0.18% 27,799,309 23.22% 35,146,959 29.36% -7,347,650 Abnormal
     GRZ $0.060 3.61% 53,246 4.30% 10,086,062 813.82% -10,032,816 Abnormal
     VTAL $4.450 31.38% 2,348,516 35.09% 4,304,466 64.31% -1,955,950 Abnormal
     NVE $0.100 0.67% 608,530 19.69% 1,736,647 56.18% -1,128,117 Abnormal
     LOOP $4.040 28.11% 4,528,331 40.02% 5,834,569 51.57% -1,306,238 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IWM with 1,801,824 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.38000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
