April 20, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2511 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3875 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1481 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. TIVO INC (NASDAQ:TIVO), F5 NETWORKS INC (NASDAQ:FFIV), GOLAR LNG LTD (NASDAQ:GLNG), DATALINK CORP (NASDAQ:DTLK), VMWARE INC-CLASS A (NYSE:VMW), CINEDIGM DIGITAL CINEMA - A (NASDAQ:CIDM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     TIVO $2.580 30.82% 28,337,570 50.77% 26,007,510 46.59% 2,330,060 9,031
     FFIV $13.100 14.10% 2,748,390 54.04% 2,313,915 45.49% 434,475 332
     GLNG $4.230 16.10% 1,020,376 52.44% 910,040 46.77% 110,336 261
     DTLK $0.880 14.67% 163,258 57.18% 122,234 42.82% 41,024 466
     VMW $12.230 14.23% 6,104,957 44.96% 5,375,255 39.58% 729,702 597
     CIDM $0.420 22.34% 457,005 56.70% 338,929 42.05% 118,076 2,811
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TIVO with a dollar gain Wednesday of $2.58000 and a Friction Factor of 9,031 shares. That means that it only took 9,031 more shares of buying than selling to move TIVO higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
