Market Maker Surveillance Report. KFS, IDIX, CYH, IBCA, NNVC, IDI, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Apri
April 12, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2385 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1462 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4143 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. KINGSWAY FINANCIAL SERVICES (NYSE:KFS), IDENIX PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:IDIX), COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS INC (NYSE:CYH), INTERVEST BANCSHARES CORP-A (NASDAQ:IBCA), NANOVIRICIDES INC (OTCBB:NNVC), SEARCHMEDIA HOLDINGS LTD (AMEX:IDI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction KFS $0.140 13.33% 111,725 53.07% 95,072 45.16% 16,653 1,190 IDIX $0.620 19.44% 1,258,992 58.35% 898,648 41.65% 360,344 5,812 CYH $5.660 21.86% 18,324,729 54.71% 15,017,402 44.83% 3,307,327 5,843 IBCA $0.380 15.70% 460,204 63.88% 256,468 35.60% 203,736 5,361 NNVC $0.200 14.81% 324,834 47.64% 312,881 45.88% 11,953 598 IDI $0.450 21.23% 124,859 54.27% 104,009 45.21% 20,850 463Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows KFS with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.14000 and a Friction Factor of 1,190 shares. That means that it only took 1,190 more shares of buying than selling to move KFS higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
