March 30, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2291 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3810 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1754 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. VODAFONE GROUP PLC-SP ADR (NYSE:VOD), VALE SA-SP ADR (NYSE:VALE), ERICSSON (NASDAQ:ERIC), MADISON SQUARE GAR INC-A (NASDAQ:MSG), NOKIA CORP-SPON ADR (NYSE:NOK), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     VOD $-0.020 -0.07% 4,047,161 61.39% 2,544,945 38.60% 1,502,216 Abnormal
     VALE $-0.050 -0.15% 13,309,327 54.40% 11,105,018 45.39% 2,204,309 Abnormal
     ERIC $-0.360 -2.81% 5,337,617 56.73% 3,770,912 40.08% 1,566,705 Abnormal
     MSG $-0.190 -0.70% 1,326,112 70.67% 550,248 29.33% 775,864 Abnormal
     NOK $-0.030 -0.35% 7,188,712 48.95% 6,294,687 42.87% 894,025 Abnormal
     SIRI $-0.030 -1.73% 14,865,793 52.11% 13,649,949 47.85% 1,215,844 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows VOD with 1,502,216 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
