Market Maker Surveillance Report. EWZ, XLV, GILD, MCD, UNG, SOLR, Highest Net Sell Volume and Negative Price Friction For Mond
February 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2568 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3415 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1968 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ISHARES MSCI BRAZIL (NYSE:EWZ), HEALTH CARE SELECT SECTOR (NYSE:XLV), GILEAD SCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:GILD), MCDONALD'S CORP (NYSE:MCD), US NATURAL GAS FUND LP (NYSE:UNG), GT SOLAR INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:SOLR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction EWZ $-0.720 -1.00% 6,333,046 41.18% 10,272,903 66.80% -3,939,857 -54,720 XLV $-0.110 -0.34% 3,320,079 36.30% 5,930,892 64.85% -2,610,813 -237,347 GILD $-0.790 -2.04% 2,437,976 34.76% 5,733,685 81.75% -3,295,709 -41,718 MCD $-0.600 -0.81% 3,359,794 28.91% 7,692,390 66.20% -4,332,596 -72,210 UNG $-0.260 -4.41% 19,895,032 45.21% 25,311,428 57.52% -5,416,396 -208,323 SOLR $-0.380 -3.40% 2,417,281 28.71% 5,955,417 70.74% -3,538,136 -93,109
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SOLR down $-0.38000 with a Friction Factor of -93,109 and a Net Volume of -3,538,136. That means that it takes 93,109 more shares of selling than buying to drop SOLR by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
