February 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2659 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2590 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2524 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. SPDR DJIA TRUST (NYSE:DIA), SEMICONDUCTOR HOLDRS TRUST (NYSE:SMH), SILVERLEAF RESORTS INC (NASDAQ:SVLF), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), REGIONS FINANCIAL CORP (NYSE:RF), TYCO ELECTRONICS LTD (NYSE:TEL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     DIA $0.300 0.25% 2,255,806 43.46% 3,970,996 76.51% -1,715,190 Abnormal
     SMH $0.610 1.73% 2,840,950 37.65% 4,583,300 60.73% -1,742,350 Abnormal
     SVLF $1.010 70.63% 2,531,516 21.07% 9,552,553 79.51% -7,021,037 Abnormal
     MSFT $0.120 0.43% 19,548,844 48.38% 21,445,811 53.07% -1,896,967 Abnormal
     RF $0.310 4.12% 17,101,652 39.00% 19,213,828 43.81% -2,112,176 Abnormal
     TEL $0.070 0.20% 1,071,264 27.06% 2,321,799 58.65% -1,250,535 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TEL with 1,250,535 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.07000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
