Market Maker Surveillance Report. STVI, IBCP, SCON, BLDP, NAVI, ZANE, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday,
February 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2717 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2594 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2430 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SNAP INTERACTIVE INC (OTCBB:STVI), INDEPENDENT BANK CORP - MICH (NASDAQ:IBCP), SUPERCONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:SCON), BALLARD POWER SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:BLDP), NAVISITE INC (NASDAQ:NAVI), ZANETT INC (NASDAQ:ZANE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
STVI $0.530 23.35% 472,388 37.33% 354,129 27.98% 118,259 2,231
IBCP $0.750 25.08% 552,209 54.81% 447,263 44.39% 104,946 1,399
SCON $0.930 46.04% 3,418,172 52.67% 3,040,688 46.85% 377,484 4,059
BLDP $0.460 27.38% 2,391,033 55.12% 1,943,676 44.81% 447,357 9,725
NAVI $1.320 31.96% 10,527,070 50.17% 10,455,359 49.83% 71,711 543
ZANE $0.380 32.20% 858,336 53.59% 743,306 46.41% 115,030 3,027
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ZANE with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.38000 and a Friction Factor of 3,027 shares. That means that it only took 3,027 more shares of buying than selling to move ZANE higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
