Market Maker Surveillance Report. MSVP, WGBS, ARAY, AYSI, COSI, OPLK, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Ja
January 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2046 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1289 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4567 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. MERITOR SAVINGS BANK (OTC:MSVP), WAFERGEN BIO-SYSTEMS INC (OTCBB:WGBS), ACCURAY INC (NASDAQ:ARAY), ALLOY STEEL INTERNATIONAL (OTC:AYSI), COSI INC (NASDAQ:COSI), OPLINK COMMUNICATIONS INC (NASDAQ:OPLK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MSVP $1.052 44.02% 345,246 26.52% 292,131 22.44% 53,115 505 WGBS $0.300 30.00% 153,846 76.35% 44,651 22.16% 109,195 3,640 ARAY $2.020 29.45% 2,370,518 50.61% 2,289,723 48.88% 80,795 400 AYSI $0.860 134.38% 432,946 57.79% 314,247 41.94% 118,699 1,380 COSI $0.230 16.79% 53,380 62.68% 31,778 37.32% 21,602 939 OPLK $4.450 23.03% 903,533 51.81% 827,844 47.47% 75,689 170
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows OPLK with a dollar gain Friday of $4.45000 and a Friction Factor of 170 shares. That means that it only took 170 more shares of buying than selling to move OPLK higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
