January 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2468 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3767 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1641 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. SPDR S&P RETAIL ETF (NYSE:XRT), MARSHALL & ILSLEY CORP (NYSE:MI), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), MICRON TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:MU), CITIGROUP INC (NYSE:C), HEALTH CARE SELECT SECTOR (NYSE:XLV). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     XRT $-0.080 -0.17% 5,420,197 60.63% 4,081,080 45.65% 1,339,117 Abnormal
     MI $-0.120 -1.67% 7,624,835 51.30% 6,425,865 43.24% 1,198,970 Abnormal
     WFC $-0.290 -0.89% 11,797,302 45.84% 10,295,292 40.00% 1,502,010 Abnormal
     MU $-0.010 -0.05% 19,798,423 52.41% 17,980,332 47.59% 1,818,091 Abnormal
     C $-0.020 -0.41% 230,494,978 52.87% 190,371,391 43.66% 40,123,587 Abnormal
     XLV $-0.040 -0.12% 4,548,140 59.29% 3,239,465 42.23% 1,308,675 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLV with 1,308,675 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
