January 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2468 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3767 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1641 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. ORACLE CORP (NASDAQ:ORCL), MYLAN INC (NASDAQ:MYL), MCAFEE INC (NYSE:MFE), SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST (NYSE:SPY), POWERSHARES QQQ NASDAQ 100 (NASDAQ:QQQQ), LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS INC (NASDAQ:LVLT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ORCL $0.260 0.81% 9,632,736 45.05% 11,580,300 54.15% -1,947,564 Abnormal
     MYL $0.210 0.89% 2,750,779 35.94% 4,849,053 63.36% -2,098,274 Abnormal
     MFE $0.300 0.62% 5,027,702 30.56% 11,266,911 68.49% -6,239,209 Abnormal
     SPY $0.560 0.43% 61,289,877 46.92% 63,390,680 48.53% -2,100,803 Abnormal
     QQQQ $0.400 0.70% 25,985,998 44.16% 31,350,335 53.28% -5,364,337 Abnormal
     LVLT $0.040 3.25% 8,959,359 22.96% 30,068,211 77.04% -21,108,852 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows LVLT with 21,108,852 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
