Market Maker Surveillance Report. LPTN, MSHL, MCBF, AEN, KEYN, BIOF, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday,
January 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2468 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3767 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1641 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. LPATH INC (OTCBB:LPTN), MARSHALL EDWARDS INC (NASDAQ:MSHL), MONARCH COMMUNITY BANCORP (NASDAQ:MCBF), ADEONA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (AMEX:AEN), KEYNOTE SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:KEYN), BIOFUEL ENERGY CORP (NASDAQ:BIOF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction LPTN $0.300 27.78% 652,900 61.58% 405,454 38.24% 247,446 8,248 MSHL $0.940 43.52% 92,048 58.17% 66,180 41.83% 25,868 275 MCBF $1.170 87.97% 348,947 49.93% 340,149 48.67% 8,798 75 AEN $0.310 21.53% 513,099 66.89% 228,265 29.76% 284,834 9,188 KEYN $4.200 28.04% 787,088 56.85% 574,199 41.47% 212,889 507 BIOF $0.250 23.81% 1,192,728 59.73% 804,188 40.27% 388,540 15,542
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BIOF with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.25000 and a Friction Factor of 15,542 shares. That means that it only took 15,542 more shares of buying than selling to move BIOF higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
