January 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2742 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2224 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2780 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. PRO-PHARMACEUTICALS INC (OTCBB:PRWP), AMERICAN APPAREL INC (AMEX:APP), GLU MOBILE INC (NASDAQ:GLUU), USA TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:USAT), PLURISTEM THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:PSTI), AMERISERV FINANCIAL INC (NASDAQ:ASRV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PRWP $0.230 21.50% 427,433 59.65% 283,631 39.58% 143,802 6,252
     APP $0.160 16.00% 2,205,076 54.52% 1,624,895 40.18% 580,181 36,261
     GLUU $0.490 21.21% 2,806,806 58.75% 1,970,829 41.25% 835,977 17,061
     USAT $0.290 18.95% 1,537,539 57.14% 1,153,453 42.86% 384,086 13,244
     PSTI $0.720 22.15% 1,449,143 51.08% 1,385,925 48.86% 63,218 878
     ASRV $0.340 18.89% 59,463 60.75% 38,424 39.25% 21,039 619

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ASRV with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.34000 and a Friction Factor of 619 shares. That means that it only took 619 more shares of buying than selling to move ASRV higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
