November 30, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 1113 companies with "abnormal" market making, 783 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1401 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ATMEL CORP (NASDAQ:ATML), CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), CISCO SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:CSCO), GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), ISHARES MSCI EMERGING MKT IN (NYSE:EEM), DELTA AIR LINES INC (NYSE:DAL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ATML $-0.400 -3.71% 6,110,588 17.10% 29,615,349 82.86% -23,504,761 -587,619
     CIM $-0.070 -1.72% 8,496,536 20.27% 32,265,211 76.98% -23,768,675 -3,395,525
     CSCO $-0.300 -1.54% 29,120,995 43.94% 36,600,143 55.22% -7,479,148 -249,305
     GE $-0.140 -0.88% 21,038,229 39.53% 27,962,731 52.54% -6,924,502 -494,607
     EEM $-0.420 -0.93% 35,846,073 45.05% 43,462,633 54.63% -7,616,560 -181,347
     DAL $-0.350 -2.48% 8,839,420 31.96% 16,608,375 60.06% -7,768,955 -221,970

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DAL down $-0.35000 with a Friction Factor of -221,970 and a Net Volume of -7,768,955. That means that it takes 221,970 more shares of selling than buying to drop DAL by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
