Rite Aid Reports 2.5 Percent Same Store Sales Decrease for June
CAMP HILL, Pa.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD) today announced sales results for June.
Monthly Sales
For the four weeks ended June 26, 2010, same store sales decreased 2.5 percent over the prior-year period. June front-end same stores sales decreased 1.1 percent while pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 157 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, declined 3.1 percent. Prescriptions filled at comparable stores decreased 3.7 percent over the prior-year period.
Total drugstore sales for the four-week period decreased 3.3 percent to $1.908 billion compared to $1.973 billion for the same period last year. Prescription revenue accounted for 67.4 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription revenue represented 96.3 percent of pharmacy sales.
Year-to-Date Sales
Same store sales for the 17-week period ended June 26, 2010 decreased 1.4 percent over the prior-year period. Front-end same store sales were down 1.2 percent while pharmacy same store sales decreased 1.4 percent. Prescriptions filled at comparable stores decreased 2.2 percent over the prior-year period.
Total drugstore sales for the 17 weeks ended June 26, 2010 decreased 2.4 percent to $8.276 billion compared to $8.479 billion in last yeara™s like period. Prescription revenue represented 68.1 percent of total drugstore sales, and third party prescription revenue was 96.3 percent of pharmacy sales.
