EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 24, 2010) - [ Serenic Corporation ] (TSX VENTURE:SER), ("Serenic" or the "Corporation"), a leading publisher of financial management and business operations software for nonprofits, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the public sector, announced today that Serenic Navigator [ nonprofit accounting software ] has been chosen by [ Mercy Corps. ]
Portland-based Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. The organization's team of 3,700 professionals helps turn crises into opportunities for millions of people in 40 countries. Programs ranging from hunger and disaster relief to climate change and education support its work to improve people's lives around the world.
Mercy Corps wanted to replace its previous system to more efficiently manage its global financial operations. It sought a nonprofit software solution to enable real-time data synchronization with its sites in remote areas of the globe, where multi-currency transactions are made and connectivity challenges are common.
After reviewing nonprofit software options, Mercy Corps recently chose [ Serenic Navigator – certified for Microsoft Dynamics NAV ], with [ Serenic's AwardVision ] software for grant management. Serenic is installing Navigator at Mercy Corps' U.S. headquarters, with plans to roll out across its international field offices. The organization also plans to use Jet Reports and Data Replicator software to enable timely, accurate reporting from financial databases in multiple countries.
"Mercy Corps is looking forward to the functionality Navigator delivers, especially reporting real-time financial data," said Mercy Corps CFO Steve Mitchell. "Closer connections to our field offices map to our goals for improved fiscal accountability and oversight. Some of our sites are in the most remote areas of the world, so it's important to have a system built to accurately manage expenses across geographies."
A total of 25 users initially will have access to the fully integrated Serenic Navigator product suite, which provides fund accounting and advanced budgeting capabilities, and allows the organization to combine financials and grant management. Mercy Corps plans to provide access to 75 or more users over time.
"Serenic offers nonprofit organizations like Mercy Corps real-time access to financial data that improves business processes," said Serenic CEO and President Randy Keith. "We appreciate that Mercy Corps chose Navigator because of Serenic's expertise in not-for-profit accounting combined with the cutting-edge technology offered in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform."
