  • Fewer Americans now say they consider stocks a safe form of long-term investment, according to a new poll by Gallup.

As economic uncertainty looms and fears of a recession grow, Americans are increasingly turning to gold and stocks as investment options, according to a recent Gallup poll. The poll, conducted from April 3-25, found that 26 percent of Americans consider gold to be the best long-term investment, marking a significant increase from the previous year and the highest level since 2012. Meanwhile, 23 percent of respondents favored stocks, a slight decrease from the previous year but still a popular choice. Real estate and savings accounts or CDs were less favored, with 19 percent and 17 percent of respondents respectively choosing these options. The shift towards gold and stocks reflects a broader trend of investors seeking to protect their wealth amid economic instability, with gold often seen as a safe haven during times of financial turmoil.
