Market Maker Surveillance Report. DRYS, TOPS, PTX, OHGI, RGSE, NVCN, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, Ma
May 11, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5513 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2331 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3410 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ:DRYS), TOP Ships Inc. (NASDAQ:TOPS), Pernix Therapeutics Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:PTX), One Horizon Group Inc. (NASDAQ:OHGI), Real Goods Solar (NASDAQ:RGSE), Neovasc Inc. (NASDAQ:NVCN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction DRYS $-1.380 -0.21% 2,213,677 35.28% 2,351,169 37.47% -137,492 -996 TOPS $-1.670 -0.48% 1,137,263 35.73% 1,242,672 39.04% -105,409 -631 PTX $-0.800 -0.12% 355,800 36.61% 374,037 38.49% -18,237 -228 OHGI $-0.560 -0.27% 151,053 34.68% 158,026 36.28% -6,973 -125 RGSE $-0.210 -0.16% 170,889 32.27% 241,756 45.65% -70,867 -3,375 NVCN $-0.240 -0.15% 243,161 31.58% 368,901 47.92% -125,740 -5,239Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows DRYS with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.38000 and a Friction Factor of -996 shares. That means that it only took 996 more shares of selling than buying to move DRYS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
