Market Maker Surveillance Report. EBAY, BAC, INTC, SLM, MYL, APHB, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Friday, May 5th 2017
May 5, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5276 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3971 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2032 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY), Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), SLM Corporation (NASDAQ:SLM), Mylan N.V. (NASDAQ:MYL), Ampliphi Biosciences Corp (NYSE:APHB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction EBAY $-0.010 0.00% 3,137,952 41.82% 2,189,067 29.17% 948,885 Abnormal BAC $-0.120 -0.01% 23,826,095 40.52% 20,329,443 34.57% 3,496,652 Abnormal INTC $-0.160 -0.00% 6,699,513 37.31% 5,626,070 31.33% 1,073,443 Abnormal SLM $-0.580 -0.05% 3,752,194 41.90% 2,760,238 30.82% 991,956 Abnormal MYL $-0.110 -0.00% 2,477,833 47.12% 1,191,978 22.67% 1,285,855 Abnormal APHB $-1.700 -0.59% 2,653,562 46.98% 1,685,504 29.84% 968,058 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EBAY with 948,885 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
