April 11, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5660 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3031 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2621 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), United Bankshares Inc. (NASDAQ:UBSI), Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:ABX), SPDR Barclays Capital Intermediate Term Credit Bond ETF (NYSE:ITR), MARKET VECTORS ETF TRJR GOLD MINES (NYSE:GDXJ), RetailMeNot Inc. (NASDAQ:SALE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GE $0.030 0.00% 5,212,490 23.87% 7,914,358 36.24% -2,701,868 Abnormal
  UBSI $0.150 0.00% 543,506 6.47% 7,185,088 85.47% -6,641,582 Abnormal
  ABX $0.620 0.03% 5,577,097 29.62% 6,740,848 35.80% -1,163,751 Abnormal
  ITR $0.040 0.00% 88,790 4.32% 1,939,076 94.44% -1,850,286 Abnormal
  GDXJ $0.750 0.02% 5,103,177 20.11% 8,672,481 34.18% -3,569,304 Abnormal
  SALE $3.750 0.48% 3,537,630 28.92% 7,676,305 62.76% -4,138,675 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GE with 2,701,868 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.03000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
