March 10, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5669 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3313 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2477 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Smith Micro Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:SMSI), NII Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:NIHD), TearLab Corporation (NASDAQ:TEAR), Ocera Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:OCRX), Direxion Trust Shs Direxion Daily Junior Gold Miners Index Bear 3X ETF (NYSE:JDST), HTG Molecular Diagnostics (NASDAQ:HTGM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SMSI $-0.240 -0.17% 62,657 37.66% 84,031 50.51% -21,374 -891
  NIHD $-0.300 -0.19% 1,035,286 31.29% 1,380,723 41.73% -345,437 -11,515
  TEAR $-1.040 -0.22% 42,634 24.97% 60,286 35.31% -17,652 -170
  OCRX $-0.490 -0.26% 5,154,173 39.93% 5,209,268 40.35% -55,095 -1,124
  JDST $-3.440 -0.15% 5,700,675 35.35% 6,528,132 40.48% -827,457 -2,405
  HTGM $-0.430 -0.16% 105,826 35.47% 124,948 41.87% -19,122 -445
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SMSI with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.24000 and a Friction Factor of -891 shares. That means that it only took 891 more shares of selling than buying to move SMSI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
