March 2, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5521 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1766 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4372 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Visa Inc. (NYSE:V), Reynolds American Inc (NYSE:RAI), iShares COMEX Gold Trust (NYSE:IAU), Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:ABX), Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction V $-0.460 -0.01% 5,544,981 47.20% 1,452,174 12.36% 4,092,807 Abnormal RAI $-0.340 -0.01% 4,818,596 31.54% 2,193,243 14.36% 2,625,353 Abnormal IAU $-0.150 -0.01% 22,188,296 78.50% 4,398,264 15.56% 17,790,032 Abnormal ABX $-0.900 -0.05% 14,065,361 39.62% 10,076,382 28.38% 3,988,979 Abnormal BMY $-0.320 -0.01% 5,649,039 36.26% 2,300,682 14.77% 3,348,357 Abnormal GDX $-1.040 -0.05% 49,002,171 39.89% 24,557,869 19.99% 24,444,302 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows V with 4,092,807 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.46000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
