January 13, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5472 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3948 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2080 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Utilities Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLU), General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Weatherford International Ltd. (NYSE:WFT), WPX Energy Inc. (NYSE:WPX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLU $-0.100 -0.00% 4,823,146 34.86% 2,841,947 20.54% 1,981,199 Abnormal
  GE $-0.030 -0.00% 9,823,078 35.94% 6,653,019 24.34% 3,170,059 Abnormal
  T $-0.130 -0.00% 6,384,695 40.72% 3,965,951 25.29% 2,418,744 Abnormal
  AAPL $-0.250 -0.00% 8,525,769 33.38% 6,561,850 25.69% 1,963,919 Abnormal
  WFT $-0.020 -0.00% 6,643,756 42.51% 4,539,154 29.05% 2,104,602 Abnormal
  WPX $-0.100 -0.01% 25,665,320 42.61% 16,718,774 27.75% 8,946,546 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLU with 1,981,199 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.10000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
