December 15, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5809 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2718 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3199 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Energy Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLE), iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSE:EEM), Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), Energy Transfer Equity L.P. (NYSE:ETE), United States Oil Fund, LP (NYSE:USO), iShs Glb Infr Shs (NASDAQ:IGF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLE $0.170 0.00% 4,421,494 23.27% 8,650,159 45.52% -4,228,665 Abnormal
  EEM $0.100 0.00% 20,019,549 29.14% 26,171,419 38.09% -6,151,870 Abnormal
  BAC $0.500 0.02% 49,717,625 30.84% 57,928,039 35.94% -8,210,414 Abnormal
  ETE $0.370 0.02% 1,666,918 19.11% 5,405,868 61.98% -3,738,950 Abnormal
  USO $0.030 0.00% 13,410,616 36.74% 17,358,705 47.56% -3,948,089 Abnormal
  IGF $0.050 0.00% 218,981 4.84% 4,221,454 93.30% -4,002,473 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLE with 4,228,665 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.17000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
