October 24, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5599 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3370 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2607 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Utilities Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLU), Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C), Visa Inc. (NYSE:V), Johnson Lambert & Co. (NYSE:S), Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), Xenith Bankshares Inc. (NASDAQ:XBKS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLU $0.200 0.00% 2,646,352 21.06% 4,822,074 38.38% -2,175,722 Abnormal
  C $0.010 0.00% 2,711,537 25.39% 4,542,052 42.52% -1,830,515 Abnormal
  V $0.970 0.01% 2,624,108 17.78% 4,949,316 33.53% -2,325,208 Abnormal
  S $0.380 0.06% 7,143,577 26.54% 11,059,549 41.09% -3,915,972 Abnormal
  F $0.180 0.02% 10,785,316 33.40% 15,105,389 46.78% -4,320,073 Abnormal
  XBKS $0.060 0.03% 37,182 1.75% 2,057,962 97.05% -2,020,780 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLU with 2,175,722 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.20000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
