October 18, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5639 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4015 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1815 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRI), ImmunoGen, Inc. (NASDAQ:IMGN), International Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:IBM), Linear Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:LLTC), Groupon Inc. (NASDAQ:GRPN), HSBC Holding plc (NYSE:HSEB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SIRI $-0.010 -0.00% 11,686,732 35.21% 15,060,749 45.38% -3,374,017 -3,374,017
  IMGN $-0.010 -0.00% 187,460 8.61% 1,045,442 48.01% -857,982 -857,982
  IBM $-4.320 -0.03% 3,201,453 25.16% 3,966,653 31.17% -765,200 -1,771
  LLTC $-0.040 -0.00% 921,004 10.92% 5,488,112 65.07% -4,567,108 -1,141,777
  GRPN $-0.030 -0.01% 1,916,903 28.19% 3,434,188 50.50% -1,517,285 -505,762
  HSEB $-0.050 -0.00% 165,616 11.02% 1,114,555 74.14% -948,939 -189,788
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SIRI down $-0.01000 with a Friction Factor of -3,374,017 and a Net Volume of -3,374,017. That means that it takes 3,374,017 more shares of selling than buying to drop SIRI by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
