September 15, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5451 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4154 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1903 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation (NYSE:COG), Grupo Televisa S.A. (NYSE:TV), Great Basin Scientific Inc. (NASDAQ:GBSN), Energy Transfer Equity L.P. (NYSE:ETE), Firesteel Resources Inc (NASDAQ:FTR), Cobalt International Energy Inc. (NYSE:CIE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  COG $-0.050 -0.00% 2,608,599 48.40% 1,469,050 27.26% 1,139,549 Abnormal
  TV $-0.200 -0.01% 3,081,692 55.82% 714,668 12.94% 2,367,024 Abnormal
  GBSN $-0.040 -0.31% 18,709,546 31.98% 15,274,475 26.10% 3,435,071 Abnormal
  ETE $-0.030 -0.00% 2,529,549 52.88% 1,280,073 26.76% 1,249,476 Abnormal
  FTR $-0.010 -0.00% 8,204,460 44.26% 6,145,370 33.15% 2,059,090 Abnormal
  CIE $-0.050 -0.05% 3,829,425 29.06% 2,472,905 18.77% 1,356,520 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows COG with 1,139,549 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
