May 8, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3804 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3315 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2086 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. ArcelorMittal (NYSE:MT), Dell Inc (NASDAQ:DELL), Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE), SYMANTEC CORPORATION (NASDAQ:SYMC), Corning Inc (NYSE:GLW), Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP (NYSE:BIP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MT $-0.040 -0.31% 4,330,404 36.69% 2,637,794 22.35% 1,692,610 Abnormal
  DELL $-0.020 -0.15% 7,790,724 57.20% 5,828,309 42.80% 1,962,415 Abnormal
  PFE $-0.190 -0.66% 10,391,963 33.80% 9,076,074 29.52% 1,315,889 Abnormal
  SYMC $-0.610 -2.43% 12,123,160 56.46% 9,285,185 43.24% 2,837,975 Abnormal
  GLW $-0.040 -0.28% 6,361,607 43.74% 4,095,169 28.16% 2,266,438 Abnormal
  BIP $-0.660 -1.72% 2,213,734 60.62% 759,406 20.80% 1,454,328 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MT with 1,692,610 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
