May 7, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3913 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3235 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2077 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Cutera Inc (NASDAQ:CUTR), Ducommun Inc (NYSE:DCO), Oclaro Inc (NASDAQ:OCLR), Oculus Innovative Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:OCLS), Genco Shipping and Trading Ltd (NYSE:GNK), (NYSE:RKUS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CUTR $-2.410 -21.46% 713,448 46.92% 838,584 55.15% -125,136 -519
  DCO $-7.240 -27.11% 270,001 28.90% 276,449 29.59% -6,448 -9
  OCLR $-0.280 -20.59% 525,953 39.02% 821,997 60.98% -296,044 -10,573
  OCLS $-0.900 -15.38% 190,382 42.79% 252,897 56.85% -62,515 -695
  GNK $-0.370 -20.90% 2,127,226 32.66% 2,418,443 37.14% -291,217 -7,871
  RKUS $-5.010 -26.37% 1,147,413 33.39% 1,209,236 35.19% -61,823 -123
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CUTR with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-2.41000 and a Friction Factor of -519 shares. That means that it only took 519 more shares of selling than buying to move CUTR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
