May 7, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3913 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3235 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2077 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. CATERPILLAR INC. (NYSE:CAT), Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), Altria Group Inc (NYSE:MO), Radian Group Inc (NYSE:RDN), National Bank of Greece SA (NYSE:NBG), Federal National Mortgage Association Fannie Mae (OTC:FNMAS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CAT $2.120 2.42% 2,616,707 25.14% 3,846,814 36.96% -1,230,107 Abnormal
  NOK $0.090 2.65% 14,230,788 33.67% 15,685,775 37.11% -1,454,987 Abnormal
  MO $0.440 1.22% 2,719,038 21.89% 5,937,248 47.80% -3,218,210 Abnormal
  RDN $0.580 4.64% 5,090,626 32.63% 6,170,935 39.56% -1,080,309 Abnormal
  NBG $0.070 7.22% 2,294,568 36.68% 3,488,167 55.77% -1,193,599 Abnormal
  FNMAS $0.053 1.16% 279,746 1.17% 11,924,025 49.94% -11,644,279 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CAT with 1,230,107 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $2.12000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
