April 11, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3972 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2984 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2382 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Fortinet Inc (NASDAQ:FTNT), Platinum Communications Corp (NYSE:PCS), Fifth Street Finance Corp (NASDAQ:FSC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BAC $-0.060 -0.49% 34,759,463 34.97% 28,387,828 28.56% 6,371,635 Abnormal
  INTC $-0.540 -2.41% 31,729,515 53.67% 27,226,709 46.06% 4,502,806 Abnormal
  MSFT $-1.480 -4.89% 66,999,480 51.32% 62,007,457 47.49% 4,992,023 Abnormal
  FTNT $-2.900 -13.27% 13,747,398 54.86% 10,869,356 43.37% 2,878,042 Abnormal
  PCS $-0.200 -1.73% 17,079,173 39.77% 14,237,381 33.15% 2,841,792 Abnormal
  FSC $-0.370 -3.34% 7,955,743 55.26% 6,435,703 44.70% 1,520,040 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAC with 6,371,635 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.06000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
