April 10, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3634 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4076 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1692 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Health Management Associates Inc (NYSE:HMA), Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE:CX), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), Mylan Inc (NASDAQ:MYL), Vale SA (NYSE:VALE), Resource Capital Corp (NYSE:RSO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  HMA $-2.040 -16.20% 10,292,319 35.52% 7,854,699 27.11% 2,437,620 Abnormal
  CX $-0.090 -0.72% 6,291,360 38.62% 3,904,130 23.96% 2,387,230 Abnormal
  S $-0.050 -0.80% 14,254,556 41.19% 9,918,291 28.66% 4,336,265 Abnormal
  MYL $-0.060 -0.21% 3,125,598 64.19% 1,728,513 35.50% 1,397,085 Abnormal
  VALE $-0.520 -2.85% 11,075,629 29.05% 10,042,148 26.34% 1,033,481 Abnormal
  RSO $-0.320 -4.90% 7,019,567 35.08% 6,283,552 31.40% 736,015 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows HMA with 2,437,620 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-2.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
