January 9, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3947 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3332 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2031 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Altria Group Inc (NYSE:MO), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), Petroleo Brasileiro SA Petrobras (NYSE:PBR), Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), Corning Inc (NYSE:GLW), Sysco Corp (NYSE:SYY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MO $-0.240 -0.75% 3,303,082 36.50% 2,198,708 24.30% 1,104,374 Abnormal
  SIRI $-0.030 -0.96% 38,335,373 53.77% 32,928,813 46.18% 5,406,560 Abnormal
  PBR $-0.010 -0.05% 6,848,152 45.39% 3,071,919 20.36% 3,776,233 Abnormal
  VZ $-0.100 -0.23% 4,712,615 35.40% 3,654,756 27.46% 1,057,859 Abnormal
  GLW $-0.080 -0.64% 9,807,462 40.14% 6,441,676 26.36% 3,365,786 Abnormal
  SYY $-0.690 -2.18% 3,222,182 49.70% 1,671,145 25.78% 1,551,037 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MO with 1,104,374 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.24000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
