January 8, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3949 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2552 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2778 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc (NYSE:FCX), AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Regions Financial Corp (NYSE:RF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BAC $-0.110 -0.91% 61,860,902 37.15% 58,101,758 34.89% 3,759,144 Abnormal
  GE $-0.230 -1.08% 15,216,760 38.18% 9,846,683 24.71% 5,370,077 Abnormal
  FCX $-0.360 -1.02% 5,929,884 39.47% 3,784,512 25.19% 2,145,372 Abnormal
  T $-1.030 -2.91% 9,511,514 33.11% 7,366,465 25.64% 2,145,049 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.110 -0.41% 23,231,400 52.29% 20,258,233 45.60% 2,973,167 Abnormal
  RF $-0.060 -0.79% 5,777,382 40.56% 3,275,012 22.99% 2,502,370 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAC with 3,759,144 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
