November 30, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4180 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3141 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2377 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Friday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C), Health Care REIT Inc (NYSE:HCN), PulteGroup Inc (NYSE:PHM), Yahoo! Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO), Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS), Lennar Corp (NYSE:LEN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  C $-0.650 -1.85% 11,803,268 28.47% 15,321,053 36.95% -3,517,785 -54,120
  HCN $-0.120 -0.20% 892,123 14.29% 4,168,874 66.76% -3,276,751 -273,063
  PHM $-0.330 -1.91% 4,349,950 18.71% 13,699,036 58.92% -9,349,086 -283,306
  YHOO $-0.090 -0.50% 9,914,971 41.78% 13,613,856 57.36% -3,698,885 -410,987
  DIS $-0.080 -0.16% 1,960,474 15.92% 7,412,982 60.20% -5,452,508 -681,564
  LEN $-0.210 -0.54% 2,169,000 20.86% 6,371,104 61.28% -4,202,104 -200,100
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows C down $-0.65000 with a Friction Factor of -54,120 and a Net Volume of -3,517,785. That means that it takes 54,120 more shares of selling than buying to drop C by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
