Market Maker Surveillance Report. WFC, TSM, ODP, AMD, HWD, KCG, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Wednesday, November 28th 2
November 28, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4135 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3009 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2277 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. WELLS FARGO & COMPANY (NYSE:WFC), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (NYSE:TSM), Office Depot Inc (NYSE:ODP), Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE:AMD), HARRY WINSTON DIAMOND CORP (NYSE:HWD), Knight Capital Group Inc (NYSE:KCG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction WFC $0.160 0.49% 4,552,786 25.68% 5,910,090 33.33% -1,357,304 Abnormal TSM $0.070 0.41% 2,798,776 28.13% 4,257,055 42.79% -1,458,279 Abnormal ODP $0.020 0.62% 1,556,402 24.99% 2,660,265 42.71% -1,103,863 Abnormal AMD $0.090 4.79% 8,742,830 32.53% 10,010,565 37.24% -1,267,735 Abnormal HWD $0.710 5.22% 196,363 11.60% 1,338,745 79.09% -1,142,382 Abnormal KCG $0.430 14.48% 14,671,028 31.13% 18,486,076 39.22% -3,815,048 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows WFC with 1,357,304 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.16000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
