November 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3642 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1640 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3847 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. APPLIED MATERIALS, INC. (NASDAQ:AMAT), AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), CA Inc (NASDAQ:CA), Eli Lilly and Co (NYSE:LLY), Prudential Financial Inc (NYSE:PRU), Amarantus BioSciences Inc (OTC:AMBS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  AMAT $-0.280 -2.52% 9,786,925 42.24% 13,439,252 58.01% -3,652,327 -130,440
  T $-0.350 -1.04% 9,323,729 25.47% 13,075,439 35.72% -3,751,710 -107,192
  CA $-0.330 -1.46% 2,320,974 17.97% 10,586,374 81.97% -8,265,400 -250,467
  LLY $-0.710 -1.47% 1,474,675 6.40% 18,369,553 79.73% -16,894,878 -237,956
  PRU $-2.020 -3.64% 1,385,942 10.45% 8,844,069 66.69% -7,458,127 -36,921
  AMBS $-0.013 -26.68% 16,195,562 39.28% 25,040,589 60.72% -8,845,027 -6,751,929
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AMAT down $-0.28000 with a Friction Factor of -130,440 and a Net Volume of -3,652,327. That means that it takes 130,440 more shares of selling than buying to drop AMAT by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
