October 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4020 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2200 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3057 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA), American Express Co (NYSE:AXP), ASML Holding NV (NASDAQ:ASML), Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), Coherent Inc (NASDAQ:COHR), Powershares Qqq Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CMCSA $1.300 3.58% 10,393,724 44.03% 12,426,960 52.64% -2,033,236 Abnormal AXP $0.310 0.56% 1,033,484 18.60% 2,373,540 42.72% -1,340,056 Abnormal ASML $0.160 0.30% 1,704,630 32.36% 3,276,842 62.21% -1,572,212 Abnormal VZ $0.440 0.99% 2,976,444 25.57% 4,276,804 36.75% -1,300,360 Abnormal COHR $0.470 1.02% 533,244 21.53% 1,931,290 77.99% -1,398,046 Abnormal QQQ $0.250 0.38% 23,556,141 44.34% 27,730,854 52.20% -4,174,713 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CMCSA with 2,033,236 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $1.30000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
