Market Maker Surveillance Report. ASML, HBAN, S, YHOO, AONE, ACOM, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Monday, October 22nd 20
October 22, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4206 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2314 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2794 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. ASML Holding NV (NASDAQ:ASML), Huntington Bancshares Inc (NASDAQ:HBAN), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), Yahoo! Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO), A123 Systems Inc (NASDAQ:AONE), Ancestry.Com Inc (NASDAQ:ACOM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ASML $1.130 2.17% 2,660,813 35.32% 3,986,605 52.92% -1,325,792 Abnormal HBAN $0.010 0.16% 5,632,770 43.68% 7,252,293 56.24% -1,619,523 Abnormal S $0.030 0.53% 9,617,904 25.53% 16,617,623 44.11% -6,999,719 Abnormal YHOO $0.260 1.64% 14,106,334 47.54% 15,552,004 52.41% -1,445,670 Abnormal AONE $0.070 53.85% 55,637,304 49.16% 57,546,416 50.84% -1,909,112 Abnormal ACOM $2.330 7.98% 7,692,807 44.74% 9,501,819 55.26% -1,809,012 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ASML with 1,325,792 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $1.13000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
