October 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3871 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1502 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4134 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Furniture Brands International Inc (NYSE:FBN), East West Petroleum Corp (NYSE:EW), Parametric Sound Corp (NASDAQ:PAMT), Glu Mobile Inc (NASDAQ:GLUU), MIGAO CORP (OTC:MIGGF), Vringo Inc (AMEX:VRNG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  FBN $-0.150 -11.36% 134,851 31.62% 146,656 34.38% -11,805 -787
  EW $-22.710 -21.14% 2,833,767 32.03% 3,036,932 34.33% -203,165 -89
  PAMT $-0.780 -12.50% 82,837 42.50% 107,145 54.98% -24,308 -312
  GLUU $-0.770 -18.92% 8,759,749 45.51% 10,431,035 54.20% -1,671,286 -21,705
  MIGGF $-0.635 -20.15% 56,250 24.97% 169,050 75.03% -112,800 -1,777
  VRNG $-0.980 -18.05% 11,849,512 33.05% 13,087,451 36.50% -1,237,939 -12,632
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FBN with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.15000 and a Friction Factor of -787 shares. That means that it only took 787 more shares of selling than buying to move FBN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
