September 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4039 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3722 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1826 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Ultrapetrol (Bahamas) Ltd (NASDAQ:ULTR), Canadian Tire Corp Ltd (NYSE:CTC), Rambus Inc (NASDAQ:RMBS), Local.com Corp (NASDAQ:LOCM), Streamline Health Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:STRM), AspenBio Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:APPY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ULTR $0.280 19.86% 99,319 70.18% 39,383 27.83% 59,936 2,141
  CTC $0.680 52.31% 158,414 36.53% 155,332 35.82% 3,082 45
  RMBS $0.800 15.12% 628,670 56.59% 482,348 43.41% 146,322 1,829
  LOCM $0.240 13.48% 300,148 65.39% 158,838 34.61% 141,310 5,888
  STRM $0.620 12.70% 153,767 59.72% 102,709 39.89% 51,058 824
  APPY $0.880 47.83% 1,355,111 59.53% 921,133 40.47% 433,978 4,932
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ULTR with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.28000 and a Friction Factor of 2,141 shares. That means that it only took 2,141 more shares of buying than selling to move ULTR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
