September 18, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4001 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2464 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3051 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Schlumberger NV (NYSE:SLB), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), Gap Inc (NYSE:GPS), Teradyne Inc (NYSE:TER), Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE:AMD), Staples Inc (NASDAQ:SPLS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SLB $-0.900 -1.17% 2,703,371 37.94% 1,695,903 23.80% 1,007,468 Abnormal
  CSCO $-0.100 -0.52% 22,161,092 49.76% 16,727,155 37.56% 5,433,937 Abnormal
  GPS $-0.040 -0.11% 6,535,116 41.48% 4,321,322 27.43% 2,213,794 Abnormal
  TER $-0.520 -3.31% 3,023,611 46.24% 1,601,050 24.48% 1,422,561 Abnormal
  AMD $-0.390 -9.73% 31,195,417 34.37% 29,807,104 32.84% 1,388,313 Abnormal
  SPLS $-0.040 -0.33% 6,334,694 56.09% 4,939,228 43.74% 1,395,466 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SLB with 1,007,468 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.90000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
