September 4, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4102 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2870 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2602 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO), EXXON MOBIL CORPORATION (NYSE:XOM), Cabo Drilling Corp (NYSE:CBE), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Arch Coal Inc (NYSE:ACI), SAIC Inc (NYSE:SAI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  KO $-0.050 -0.14% 6,118,239 35.85% 4,920,712 28.83% 1,197,527 Abnormal
  XOM $-0.180 -0.21% 3,254,708 30.93% 2,176,300 20.68% 1,078,408 Abnormal
  CBE $-0.400 -0.55% 1,814,818 69.91% 374,901 14.44% 1,439,917 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.440 -1.43% 26,249,640 54.21% 21,702,895 44.82% 4,546,745 Abnormal
  ACI $-0.360 -5.94% 6,563,661 40.93% 5,497,001 34.28% 1,066,660 Abnormal
  SAI $-0.080 -0.66% 2,624,683 47.48% 1,461,085 26.43% 1,163,598 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows KO with 1,197,527 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
