August 20, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4320 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2424 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2719 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), ATP Oil And Gas Corp (NASDAQ:ATPG), Arco Resources Corp (NYSE:ARR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GE $-0.070 -0.00% 7,416,241 27.22% 10,184,486 37.38% -2,768,245 -395,464
  JNJ $-0.100 -0.00% 3,197,043 25.53% 6,358,875 50.79% -3,161,832 -316,183
  VZ $-0.360 -0.01% 2,576,483 28.28% 3,825,609 41.99% -1,249,126 -34,698
  INTC $-0.030 -0.00% 12,030,092 47.30% 13,202,272 51.91% -1,172,180 -390,727
  ATPG $-0.160 -0.35% 7,633,462 40.44% 11,228,397 59.48% -3,594,935 -224,683
  ARR $-0.030 -0.00% 3,068,123 30.32% 4,584,325 45.31% -1,516,202 -505,401
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GE down $-0.07000 with a Friction Factor of -395,464 and a Net Volume of -2,768,245. That means that it takes 395,464 more shares of selling than buying to drop GE by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
