August 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3918 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2781 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2487 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Robbins & Myers Inc (NYSE:RBN), Beazer Homes USA Inc (NYSE:BZH), Hewlett-Packard Co (NYSE:HPQ), LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (OTC:LVMUY), Vale SA (NYSE:VALE), Firesteel Resources Inc (NASDAQ:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  RBN $12.810 27.36% 5,909,939 30.20% 7,285,060 37.22% -1,375,121 Abnormal
  BZH $0.190 7.12% 5,313,822 31.03% 6,179,900 36.09% -866,078 Abnormal
  HPQ $0.050 0.26% 6,382,441 31.86% 7,188,787 35.89% -806,346 Abnormal
  LVMUY $0.950 2.96% 34,202 1.82% 1,830,280 97.35% -1,796,078 Abnormal
  VALE $0.240 1.31% 5,599,418 26.84% 7,009,883 33.60% -1,410,465 Abnormal
  FTR $0.180 3.96% 6,640,356 46.52% 7,623,003 53.41% -982,647 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows RBN with 1,375,121 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $12.81000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
