August 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3959 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3406 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1951 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Legend International Holdings Inc (OTC:LGDI), General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Limited Brands Inc (NYSE:LTD), Rite Aid Corp (NYSE:RAD), Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE:AMD), Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp (OTC:FMCKJ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction LGDI $0.017 23.29% 74,000 0.31% 23,583,930 99.69% -23,509,930 Abnormal GE $0.150 0.72% 8,718,283 28.38% 12,959,745 42.18% -4,241,462 Abnormal LTD $1.030 2.08% 618,014 15.02% 2,218,337 53.92% -1,600,323 Abnormal RAD $0.030 2.61% 1,486,863 26.70% 2,774,976 49.83% -1,288,113 Abnormal AMD $0.010 0.25% 4,467,341 26.31% 7,381,662 43.48% -2,914,321 Abnormal FMCKJ $0.360 18.27% 483,070 18.90% 2,304,510 90.14% -1,821,440 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows LGDI with 23,509,930 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.01700. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
